COVID-19
Most states had increasing COVID-19 prevalence this past week. Effectively all states, except Hawaii, have had weeks of increasing prevalence over the past month. Put together, this week will see the start of secular increase of prevalence across most states except for the West, marking the start of the Winter wave. This wave is starting from an already high level of prevalence in most places.
States with prevalence increasing first time this week:
🔺 California
🔺 Colorado
🔺 Oregon
🔺 Texas
The Winter COVID wave starts this week
Use appropriate precautions – get vaccinated, improve indoor air quality and mask up.
Variants
The Winter wave will be largely driven by the BA.2.86* family of variants with the JN.1 variant being the most likely to determine local surges.
COVID prevalence is accelerating in states with significant prevalence of the BA.2.86* family of variants
Vaccine
10% of adults and <5% of children have received the COVID vaccine till October.
With the several months of high levels of immunity offered by the vaccines, if you have not received the vaccine yet, now is the time to get it before prevalence ramps up in December.

California
⚠️ Los Angeles has high flu prevalence of 23 /area and San Francisco of 19 / area trending towards a peak in late January

Nationally, Flu prevalence is trending up towards a January peak with prevalence typical of an average Flu season
💉 If you have not received the flu shot already, now would be the time.
